Young women, ages 11 to 12 years old, should be vaccinated against human papilloma virus (HPV) in order to prevent cervical cancer, recent American Cancer Society (ACS) guidelines recommend. Other major health groups, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the national Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, have also called for widespread vaccination in this age group.
